Before I Start…

This is not a polished adventure story. This is a raw, real-time account of one man, an older man at that, riding 3,800+ miles of gravel Forest Service and fire roads from the Pacific Ocean in Oregon to the banks of the Mississippi River and on across the Ohio River north to home — self-supported, self-funded, and figured out along the way. No sponsors, no chase vehicle, no safety net. Just a bike I bought, gear I chose (and sometimes replaced when it failed), and the lessons learned one hard mile at a time.

Welcome to the Golden Gravel Trail.
